About the test

The Yersinia Elispot Test uses Elispot technology to identify a T cell response to Yersinia bacteria in the bloodstream, which can identify if a Yersinia infection is present.

Yersinia is a genus of the Yersiniaceae bacteria, several species of which are pathogenic in humans. Individuals can be infected through the bloodstream and through contaminated food products.

Yersinia bacteria are associated with a number of symptoms and conditions, including Crohn’s disease, certain types of arthritis, fever, vomiting and abdominal pain. By using Elispot technology, the Yersinia Elispot Test identifies any cellular activity against Yersinia bacteria to confirm whether or not it is present.

This test requires a blood sample via a blood draw procedure, which must be performed by a doctor or phlebotomist.
