The Yersinia IgG & IgA Antibodies Test measures Yersinia IgG and IgA antibodies, which are produced in response to a Yersinia infection.
Yersinia is a genus of the Yersiniaceae bacteria, several species of which are pathogenic in humans. Individuals can be infected through the bloodstream and through contaminated food products.
Yersinia bacteria are associated with a number of symptoms and conditions, including Crohn’s disease, certain types of arthritis, fever, vomiting and abdominal pain. The Yersinia IgG & IgA Antibodies Test identifies any cellular activity against Yersinia bacteria to confirm whether or not it is present.
This test requires a blood sample via a blood draw procedure, which must be performed by a doctor or phlebotomist.
