About the test

The GI Map Plus Zonulin analyses the gut microbiome to detect specific microbes that may be disrupting normal microbial balance, and assess indicators of digestion, absorption, inflammation and immune function.

This in-depth test uses qPCR testing to measure pathogenic bacteria, commensal bacteria, opportunistic pathogens, fungi, viruses and parasites. The extensive results give an accurate picture of the microbiome and any perturbations, to help identify the specific microbes that may be disrupting the gastrointestinal microbiota and causing health conditions. It also analyses beta-glucuronidase, a marker for inflammation.

It also includes zonulin as part of the analysis, which is a key biomarker for intestinal permeability and has been associated with conditions such as coeliac disease, non-coeliac gluten sensitivity and other conditions.
