About the test

Insulin resistance occurs when the body’s cells don’t respond appropriately to insulin, meaning they can’t use glucose from the blood to create energy. Consequently, the body produces more insulin as an attempt to rebalance blood sugar levels, and fasting insulin levels become elevated.

By assessing fasting insulin, this test determines whether clients have elevated insulin levels, which can indicate conditions such as diabetes, pre-diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The results can help to guide dietary and supplementation protocol to improve insulin sensitivity and optimise health.

This test requires four blood spots (collected on one card) from a single finger prick.
