Traditional histamine tests only measure either DAO (diamine oxidase) or histamine-N-methyltransferase, both of which play a role in histamine degradation. However, the Histamine DAO Test measures total histamine degradation capacity, independent of dietary histamine content, which provides extensive insight into histamine intolerance.
This test requires a blood sample via a blood draw procedure, which must be performed by a doctor or phlebotomist.
